The short answer: ABSOLUTELY! Aside from daily cleansing, daily moisturization is perhaps the most important step we can take to beautifying and nourishing our skin.
Why is daily moisturizing so important?
* Reparation. Your skin is under a constant assault from environmental elements that dry it out. Whether it’s sun exposure, a dry environment, or dehydration, the result is the same – dry, dehydrated skin. A daily moisturizer helps reverse this process by infusing the skin with the hydration it needs to be healthy. Remember, not all moisturizers are created equal.
* Anti-Aging. As you age, your skin loses its ability to retain moisture. At the same time, skin cells become less productive, leading to tired, sagging skin and wrinkles. By giving the skin moisture on a daily basis, you can help to reverse this process. With proper moisture, the skin is less susceptible to signs of aging and skin cells are better able to do their job of making collagen and regenerating themselves.
* Protection. Moisture is an important part of your skin’s natural defense system. Dry skin is more susceptible to damage and aging, so if you want to prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, its important that the skin be well-hydrated. A good moisturizer also is likely to have antioxidants, which remove free radicals from the surface of the skin and prevent environmental factors from harming the skin.
* Circulation. A daily moisturizer stimulates circulation in the epidermis. With increased circulation comes increased skin cell activity, meaning more skin-firming collagen and elastin. So proper hydration leads to less fine lines and wrinkles while promoting tighter, younger-looking skin.
